History

2009 caving expedition "Ayiti Toma 2009", begin of cave protection and development.

Description

Bellony Cave is located 45 minutes from Pestel, which means 15 minutes by car and 30 minute walk. It was discovered by the 2009 caving expedition "Ayiti Toma 2009". Subsequently it was developed by installing trails to protect the fragile formations from visitors and the most beautiful part of the cave was closed by a gate. As a result it is still in an almost pristine state The key is available at the Pestel City Hall, a guide with the key will lead visitors to the cave and also guide the one hour cave tour. A path wath built to the cave entrance to allow easy access. Big plates with explanatory text in four languages - Creole, French, English and Spanish - were installed at the cave entrance.
