The southernmost part of Lower Carniola is also called White Carniola. Being part of the Dinarides, the whole area is characterized by mostly karst with underground drainage and some poljes with flysh underground and drainage on the surface. The area has some of the most spectacular karst features of Slovenian in the northern part.
