Central Luzon is an administrative region to organize the seven provinces of the vast central plains of the island of Luzon for administrative convenience. The largest plain in the country produces most of the country’s rice and is nicknamed "Rice Granary of the Philippines". To the south, it borders Manila, the nation’s capital. Beneath the plains, there are also some hills and even mountains with karst and numerous caves.
