Sør-Trøndelag


The northern part of Norway is rather narrow, the counties are bordered by the Norwegian Sea (Atlantic Ocean) To the west, and by Sweden to the east. This is the southermost of those counties. The broad and long Trondheimsfjord is the most important fjord and leads to the capital Trondheim with its harbous. The fylke has some of the best salmon rivers in Europe.

Mining in Røros and Løkken in Meldal lasted for about 300 years, and there are several show mines. The mining neede a lot of wood, especialy as one of the techniques used was fire setting, fires used to crack the rock. The forest grows slowly due to the climate, and forests on the mountain plateau near Røros still have not fully recovered.
