Šibensko-kninska županija (Šibenik-Knin County) is located in the north-central part of Dalmatia. The biggest city is the county seat Šibenik. It has two national parks, Krka National Park and Kornati National Park. Krka National Park is strongly connected with the karst, located along the middle-lower course of the Krka River it protects the numerous rimstone pools, waterfalls and tufa deposits of the river. The Kornati National Park covers the 89 southernmost of the 140-odd islands, islets and reefs of the Kornati archipelago. They consist of limestone and are karstified.
