Chiquimula

The capital of Chiquimula Department is also named Chiquimula. Located in the northeastern region of Guatemala, it is mountainous, with a climate that varies between tropical and temperate. The department has numerous mineral deposits, and silver has been mined there since the Spanish colonial period.
