Hauts-de-France

Hauts-de-France means literally Heights of France, or probably Upper France. It is not higher in elevation, its further north, it's the northernmost part of France bordering the English Channel and Belgium. Actually its mostly lowland, coastal plains with Mesozoic sedimentary rocks several kilometers deep but mostly covered by moraines from the Ice Ages. As a result there very few underground sites, most of them subterranea.
