Laos - About the Country

The Southeast Asian country Laos is located between China, Burma, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. It has no access to the sea. The Capital is Vientiane, the population only 4.7 Million people. The country is Buddhistic, the spoken language is Lao.

A few years ago it was one of the poorest and least developed countries in Asia and the Pacific region. To encourage foreign investment in the mining sector, a new Mining Law was promulgated in 1997, Laos' mineral potential includes coal, copper, gemstones, gold, iron ore, lead, potash, salt, tin, and zinc.
