Oita Prefecture

Oita Prefecture is located at the northeastern coast of the island of Kyushu. There is only a narrow coastal plain, most of the prefecture is covered by mountains. There is some geothermic activity with many hot springs, many around the city of Beppu, known as jigoku (hells).
