The canton of Glarus is mountainous, dominated by the deep valley of Linth river. The highest peak in the Glarus Alps is the Tödi (3,614m asl). A part of the northern border is the large lake called Walensee (Lake Walen). The German speaking canton is one of the smallest, forestry is an important branch of industry.
