South Africa's economy is massively based on mining, the major resources are gold, gold, diamonds, and tourism. One would think such a mining-based country would offer dozens of show mine tours. This is actually not the case. It seems there were some underground mine tours in working mines, but as the mines were closed or sold, those tours were discontinued. Also, we reviewed several sites after the pandemic, and we found that 90 % of all South African tourism-related domains were down. We actually have no idea how to interpret this, but we guess South Africa is not actually a good land for tourists. There are still many tourists in the country, but they do only the mainstream stuff, i.e. the big five. These are not five tourist sites, these are five animals, which are the topic of different safaris. We have started to delete sites or mark them as closed, depending on the info we get.
