Songkhla Province is one of the southern provinces of Thailand bordering peninsular Malaysia. The province is mostly lowland speckled with a lot of karst towers, the highest elevation is Khao Mai Kaeo (821 m asl). The province has the largest natural lake in Thailand in the north, located in the coastal plain it has a chanel to the sea. Close to this channel, the water becomes brackish. The province has three national parks, San Kala Khiri, Khao Nam Khang, and Namtok Sai Khao.
Despite a large number of caves in the central mountain ridge and in the karst towers, there is actually no show cave, which is probably a result of low tourism. There are several cave temples, but we have only one listed so far. There is also Khao Chang Lon Cave which is integrated into the daily life of the small village in front of the entrance.
