สระแก้ว (Sa Kaeo Province) is located in in eastern Thailand, about 200 km from Bangkok, bordering Cambodia. The border to Cambodia is disputed and there were border battles in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. The border is the largest land mine field in the world and thousands have died, and still there are every year 20 dead through the mines until today. So we guess this is not the first place one would go for holiday.
Almost all inhabitants are Theravada Buddhist. There is a lot of tropical tower karst with huge caves in the karst towers. Many caves were converted into cave temples.
