จังหวัดราชบุรี

Ratchaburi Province

จังหวัดราชบุรี (Changwat Ratchaburi, Ratchaburi Province) lies in Western Thailand, which is in the middle of the country, west of the capital Bangkok. The province has lowland, with many wetlands and fertile farmland in the center and eastern part. Here it is part of the huge plain around the Chao Phraya river. Nevertheless, it is drained directly into the sea by the river Mae Klong. The lowland has ome karst towers with huge caves, which are generally used as temples. The western part of the province to the border with Myanmar is covered by 200 to 300 m high hills which are called the Tenasserim mountains. They are predominantly forested and contain mineral resources like tin, tantalum, feldspar, quartz, limestone, and marlstone. Again the limestone is karstified, but there are currently no touristic caves known.
