Republic of Adygea


The Republic of Adygea is a landlocked republic of Russia located in the North Caucasus of Eastern Europe. Adygea is one of Russia's ethnic republics, primarily representing the indigenous Adyghe people. They are 25% of the Republic's population, while Russians are 60%, and there are minorities of Armenians and Ukrainians.

Located in the foothills of the Northwestern Caucasus the northern areas are plains and the southern area mountains. The major navigable river is Kuban River. The highest mountains are Chugush Mountain (3,238 m asl) and Mount Fisht (2,868 m asl). There are several parts of the mountains made of limestone with numerous caves.
