Estado Jalisco

The full name of Jalisco is Estado Libre y Soberano de Jalisco (Free and Sovereign State of Jalisco). Located at the western coast of México, its capital and largest city is Guadalajara. The diverse terrain includes forests, beaches, plains, and lakes. Altitudes vary from sea level to 4,300 m asl. Most of the state is covered by the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt, so there is actually not much limestone and karstification. There is a lot of mining, for gold, silver, copper, granite, marble, sandstone and obsidian. Unfortunately they have no show mines. Tourism is concentrated on the beaches and diving and on the town Tequila and its products, for obvious reasons.
