Contae Chiarraí (County Kerry) is located in the South-West and part of the province of Munster. It is named after the Ciarraige, the people of Ciar, who lived in part of the present county. Famous tourist destinations are the Lakes of Killarney, Carrauntoohil, Ireland's highest mountain at 1,039m asl, the Ring of Kerry, and the Dingle Peninsula with the Gallarus Oratory.
