The République et Canton de Neuchâtel > (Republic and Canton of Neuchâtel) is a mostly French-speaking canton at the border to France. It was also known as Neuenburg, which is German, as it was ruled by Prussia for 150 years during the 18th and 19th century. Like the Canton of Jura, it is located in the Jura mountain ridge, which is formed by folded limestones and karstified. The main sights are karst related, like caves and springs, but there are also gorges and even some extraordinary mines. This is also the area, where the famous Swiss watches originate from.
