Pazardzhik Province is named after the city of Pazardzhik, its administrative and industrial centre. The northern parts of the province are the Sredna Gora mountains, to the south the relief flattens into the Upper Thracian Plain with a height around 200 m asl. South of the plain the Rhodope Mountains cover the southern half of the province. The highest mountain is Savov Vrah (2,306 m asl). This mountain ridge consists mostly marble and is karstified, so there are numerous cave. However, most of the show caves are southeast in Smoljan province.
