History

Description

Devil's Den is a karst spring, or better a short cave with a sump at the end, which is commercially used for cave diving. A pair of entrepreneurial divers bought the land around the cave in the early 1990s. The widened the cave entrance and built a path to the sump, constructed a diving platform with a wooden stair into the water.

The spring is now open to all divers with open-water diver certification. Obviosly cave diving is not "open water" diving, but the owners admit that the divers have direct access to the surface, not confined like a true cave. This is rather strange, but as far as we know there is no cave diving certificate anyway. Devil's Den is a popular training spot for scuba instructors from throughout the country. It is a perfect place to taste the forbidden fruit of cave diving, without the danger of a cave.

The entrance hall of the cave is reched through a widened, but still narrow passageway. A huge limestone chamber with a wide hole in the ceiling, dripping with green vines.
