History


Description

Raccoon Mountain Caverns was formed in Mississippian limestone. Fossils of coral, crinoids, bryozoans, and echinoderms can be found throughout the cave. Raccoon Mountain Caverns is located at the edge of the Sequatchie Valley, an anticlinal valley of the Appalachain Mountains.
