Description

Hibbing Taconite Tours explains all steps of taconite mining and the taconite industry on a tour into a working mining company. First the mining of the ore with drilling rigs and bulldozers of a modern mine are seen in action. Gigantic shovels are loading 3-story, 240 ton trucks which transport the ore to the pellet plant. At the plant the ore is converted into taconite pellets. Long trains are filled with the taconite pellets and bring them to the furnaces.

As this is a tour to a working plant, there are several restrictions. Children are not allowed, and there are only few tours. Reservation is essential.
