Wat Tham Krabok (Temple of the Bamboo Cave) has a huge cave with Buddha statues. It is rather famous, but not for the cave, the monastery is a detox institution. At the same time it is believed to be or have been a conduit for international heroin and opium trafficking. As the monastery serves as a refugee camp for Hmong refugees there are also rumours about arms trafficking. Actually the whole monastery is under siege by the Thai military, hundreds of troops surround Wat Tham Krabok. The Hmong village was fenced with concertina wire. The monastery, temples and cave are accessible, although Thai officials try to keep tourists at a distance.
