The Malå Geomuseum is located in a 20 meters high, red, wooden building, the former shaft tower of the Rackejaur Mine. It was removed to Malå to protect it, and because it is very impressive and easy to find from far. The tower contains the geomuseum, the tourist information, exhibitions, conference facilities and a café.
The Malå Geomuseum dedicated to gold prospection and gold mining in the area called Guldriket (Golden Kingdom), which is actually an initiative where numerous attraction in the area joined for publicity.
The museum shows gold mining and washing techniques, some geology, and a working model of a volcano.
