Mehedinti

Mehedinți County is located in the southwestern corner of Romania, at the border to Serbia and Bulgaria. The Mehedinți Mountains with heights up to 1500 m asl are the Western end of the Southern Carpathians. The border to Serbia is formed by the Danube and the Porțile de Fier (Iron Gates), a section of the river where it cuts through karstified limestone rocks with caves.
