Location:	Near Canada Longa. Follow road to the southeast, signposted Caldeira, turn right after 500m (before tunnel) and follow the road which surrounds the caldera for 1km. Turnoff to the cave is signposted, from here 5min. walk Nearest bus station at Canada Longa, 30min walk.

History

Description

The Gruta da Maria Encantada is located in the rim of the Caldeira, close to Furna do Enxofre. It is also a lava cave, which goes right through the crater wall. The visitor enters the cave from outside, and arrives after only 15m the other end with a beautiful view over the caldera.
