This mining museum is based at the "Julia" Coal Mine in Walbrzych. There is a complex of buildings which date from the 19th century as well as the two haulage shafts named "Julia" and "Sobatka" respectively and with their 25 m high, bricked up head gear they are an amazing sight. Other facilities include a coal treatment plant, an exhibition of rescue equipment and a display of mining equipment. Text by Tony Oldham (2002). With kind permission. |
The museum includes an educational mine close to the surface, which may be visited without restrictions. The mine itself is reached by a descent with the original mine elevator. This tour is possible only after appointment.
