Description

Flaat Nikkelgruve is a big nickel mine. Once it was the largest nickelmine in northern Europe, and more than 350 men worked at the mine and the refinery. The mine is 440m deep, which means it reaches below sea level. Only the upper part, which is also the oldest part, is restored and open to the public.

Although the mine is restored and equipped with electric light, the tour is still rather tough. Wellingtons and hard hat are provided. Old clothes are a good idea too.
