Gua Kelawar (Bat Cave) was named after the Malaysian fruit bats which live in the cave. They liven on fruits and flowers of the surrounding forest and help pollinate the trees and plants. The guano they produced over centuries was once mined by the locals and used as fertilizer. The cave also has a complex ecosystem based on the guano, worms and insects feed on the guano. Some areas of the cave are protected to protect this eco system.
Gua Kelawar is located at Kilim river and accessible only by boat. From the jetty wooden bridges and platforms lead through a mangrove swamp and into the cave.
