The Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba Prashanti Nil Ayam or simply Tambun Cave Temple is the earliest temple for Sai Baba in Malaysia. The temple is located inside a cave, which was heavily altered with a highly polished reflective floor and whitewashed walls. In the middle is a brightly coloured statue of a seated Sathya Sai Baba with the characteristic frizzy hair and saffron robe. It is surrounded by numerous large photos of the guru. But there are also statues and symbols from other religions like a colourful statue of the Hindu god Ganesh, a white Buddha, a statue of the first Sai Baba, the Chinese Monkey God, the Goddess of Mercy, and even a Christian shrine with statues, photos and a crucifix.
Sai Baba was a holy man who died 1918. Eight years later a chald was born, which proclaimed himself the reincarnation of Sai Baba in 1940 at th eage of 14. From then on the highly intelligent and charitable child began to attract devotees. He set up numerous temples and ashrams during his life and supported charitable work in over 165 countries. At the age of 36 he suffered a stroke and four severe heart attacks, but he announced he would die at the age of 96 be born again eight years after his death. Actually he died 12 years before his predicted death, which did not harm his reputation.
The Sathya Sai Baba movement believes in the unity of all religions, so his followers were free to keep their original religions. Sai Baba did not adhere to a particular religion. He described himself an educator, and he claimed to be a full divine Avatar. According to Hinduism, an avatar is a descent or manifestation of a deity on earth.
