Nohoch Nah Chich is a part of a huge underwater cave system, a cenote which is rather easily accessible. Tourists from the tourist resorts between Cancun and Playa del Carmen can book snorkeling and diving day trips to this cave. They are brought to the cave entrance in a four-wheel drive Unimog, alternatively it may be reachen in a 40 minutes hike. The participants are dressed in diving suits and equipped with snorkels and optical masks.
At the moment (2004) Nohoch Nah Chich is the worlds second largest underwater cave system. However, this is an attribute which changes frequently. It was even the worlds largest underwater cave system, until the discovery of the Sistema Ox Bel Ha. It is more than 60km long.
