Sovietinis bunkeris is not really a name, it simply means Soviet bunker. Located in the forest near Naujasodes village lies a former Soviet bunker, abandoned by the Russians who left the country some years ago, the bunker is now more or less in disuse. Unlike other abandoned secret bunkers from the Cold War, this one is not used for a museum or guided tours, still it is open to the public.
Sovietinis bunkeris or the Soviet bunker. Located in the forest near the village of Naujasodes in Lithuania, lies a former Soviet bunker, where, for 2.5 hours tourists are now given the chance to experience life as it would have been after the Second World War under the Soviet occupation. Unlike other abandoned secret bunkers from the time of the Cold War, this one has been restored as a sort of masochistic Theme Park. Visitors are snarled at by German Shepherd dogs, whilst realistically intimidating, pistol wielding, guards, modelled on the KGB, require them to hand over all valuables, including money, cameras and cell phones. They then change into threadbare clothes of the Soviet era, and are herded through the bunker to undergo such experiences as wearing gas masks, being forced to learn the Soviet National Anthem, undergoing a concentration camp style psychological interrogation involving the signing of a "confession", a medical check, and eating a typical Soviet meal of gruel in realistic surroundings. This is not an experience for the faint-hearted, but visitors are welcomed back to reality with jolly music and a stiff vodka!
