History

Description

Mészégető-forrásbarlang (Cave of the Mészégeto springs) is an active river cave. The tour includes about 400 m of the main passage, showing erosional forms and thy typical black coating of the wall. While the passage is typically between 1.5 m and 3 m high, there are numerous low passages. The cave starts with a 60 cm high passage, a narrow chamber with 2 m diameter and a syphon. After that it becomes worse, 20 cm of cave clay on the floor makes walking difficult.

The tour is offered by the Duna-Drava National Park Directorate. The tour includes the cave gear like coverall, helmet, and head lamp, and an insurance. Children under 14 are not allowed, children between 14 and 15 must have a written permission from the parents.
