The entrance, 1.8m x 1.3m is only 70m from the main Rijeka-Zadar coastal highway. The Major Channel (Glavni kanal) and the highest point in the Inclined Channel (Kosi kanal) is 29m. In most parts of the cave the width of the passages ranges from 2 to 8m and in parts extends up to 14m. The speleothems have almost blocked the passages and in places it was necessary to widen them. Archaeology: numerous bone fragments of Holocene fauna, Ursus spelaeus, human bone remains and remnants of Neolithic potttery. Text by Tony Oldham (2002). With kind permission. |
