History

Description

Jurnet's House is the only surviving example of Norman twelfth century domestic architecture. It was built by a Jewish merchant, big enough to house the entourage of a small fortress. There is no door onto the street but a stone porch and entrance at the side, with a small courtyard behind. The ground floor consists of two large rooms, a shop and a storeroom, which are now used as a clubroom.

The basement is a series of vaults which is used as a pub. There is a pool table surrounded by a comfy couches.
