M5 exit 2 Oldbury, A4123 northwest 6km, behind the Black Country Museum turn left.
M6 exit 10 Walsall, A454 west for 2.5km, then A463 4.5km, turn left on A4123 south, 3.5km, turn right.

Open: FEB Wed-Sun 10-16.
MAR to OCT daily 10-16, every 30 minutes.

History


Description

The Dudley Canal Tunnel is one of numerous canal tunnels in Great Britain, and one of three in the Dudley Borough: Dudley No 1, Dudley No 2 and Stourbridge. This transport infrastructur was fundamental to the development during the industrial revolution. The possibility to transport material and good allowed the creation of the manufacturing heartland of the Black Country.
