It is a general problem: cave paintings, made hundreds, thousands, or even 30,000 years ago, look fresh when discovered, but are destroyed by every archaeologist and cave visitor who comes to see it. It is not important how their intentions are, the paintings are destroyed by changing humidty and temperature, the electric light, and the dust the visitors brin into the cave. A result is, many important art cave are closed to the public to protect the paintings.
