History

2004will be opened as a show cave?

Description

The Arrikrutz is one of the first caves explored in the karst around Oñati. It is now known for 14kms, and famous for various palaeontological findings. The highlight is the complete skeleton of a cave lion, the first find of this type in Spain. Beneath several bear bones, the remains of panthers were also found.

Arrikutz is not yet a show cave, but it is planned to open in 2004. There are various scientific works carried out in this effort, and the plan includes a sophisticated computer guiding system for the cave visitors. However, at the moment we have no definitive opening date.
