Description

The castle Kropfenstein is called il casti Grotta in the local language called Romontsch. This language, a Roman language, is based on Italian, German and some other Roman languages, but still it is a real language, spoken only in some parts of Switzerland.

Cave castle Kropfenstein was built in the 13th century into an overhanging cliff face, the rock is the inner wall and the ceiling of the castle. In the 14th and 15th it belonged to a famous Swiss family. At this time wooden ladders were used to enter the castle. Today there is a path from the village Vuorz above, leading down to the castle.
