Up to 1996 there was a signpost showing the way to this cave. Known since 1894 it is a popular picnic spot, with a fireplace and at one time a wooden seat. The cave is named after Edward Ross Fairfax (1842-1915). Ross Cave is a small two entrance cave in a sandstone outcrop. The main entrance is 3m high and 4m wide with smooth earth flooor. Total length 16m. Text by Tony Oldham (2005). With kind permission. |
