| 1831 | first developed by woodcutters dor floating wood. |
Seiserbergklamm started to form from the melting water of the melting glaciers of the last Ice Age, it is some 12,000 years old. The narrow gorge is still crossed by a small river which continues to deepen it, but with a much smaller rate than at first.
Such gorges are absolutely impassable, but many have been developed for tourism more than 100 years ago. This one was first developed by woodcutters. They were cutting trees on the steep mountainside high above the gorge and looked for a better way to transport the tress into the valley. The gorge was made passable for trifting wood.
